Life is filled with ups and downs, and both provide opportunities for growth.  When we get caught up in our thoughts and emotions, we may miss these teachings and may even produce additional unnecessary stress and negativity that keeps us on a downward spiral.  However, it does not have to be this way.  We can learn how to accept the present moment as it is, without additional self-imposed suffering.  Being mindful of our inner and outer worlds, coupled with an attitude of kindness towards ourselves and others, can create a more open and flexible relationship to the world, an acceptance of who we are, and a desire to take appropriate actions that are in alignment with our true nature.
